serious girl talk is the first daughter of Functionall Books, founded in 2005 by Fiona Bramble, a University of Victoria alumna with a degree in English Literature and Applied Linguistics. serious girl talk is excited to offer a Words by Me mentorship programin which female community leaders - doctors, athletes, teachers, midwives, designers, seamstresses, mothers, chefs, artists, mediators, business women (to name a few) – contribute their unique vocabulary and experience to specific units and lessons. Words by Me is an innovative education approach that helps EAL students acquire language in a relevant and personal context. Contact us here if you are interested in becoming a word mentor.Functionall Books produces and publishes innovative English as Another Language textbooks, including the popular reproducible teacher's text: Functionall 1 (Functionall 2 is under construction) Functionall is also partnered with other EAL resource authors to create an online resource for reproducible classroom and self-study language materials. Functionall pledges a portion of its profits to Books for Africa.
